The Saber Tooth Tiger, a prehistoric carnivore, was distinct from modern tigers and lions. Its most remarkable feature was its elongated, razor-sharp canines. Many remains have been found in the La Brea Tar Pits as its asphalt preserved the remains of the trapped ice age animals.
